137: Stuck or Unstuck (Marta & Matej)
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
What happens when you want two things that seem to pull you in opposite directions?
More freedom — but also more security.
A new path — but also the life you've already built.
More space for yourself — but also presence for the people who matter to you.
In this episode, Marta Jalkiewicz and I explore what keeps us stuck between two directions — and what can help us start moving again.
Our conversation begins with a simple story about a donkey standing exactly between food and water, unable to choose either direction. From there, we explore a very human experience: knowing that something needs to change, while still struggling to make the decision.
One of the central ideas of our conversation is simple:
Movement creates clarity — not the other way around.
We often wait until we're completely certain before taking action. But sometimes clarity only becomes available once we begin moving, experimenting and paying attention to what happens inside us.
We talk about replacing “but” with “and,” listening to the language we use, and noticing how fear, responsibility and old beliefs can quietly shape our choices.
We also explore the role of values and intuition as two inner compasses. Our values can help us understand what truly matters in the season of life we're in, while our body can offer information that rational thinking alone may miss.
And perhaps we don't always need to make one enormous, irreversible decision.
Sometimes we simply need to take the next small step.
In this conversation, we explore:
- Why waiting for clarity can keep us stuck
- How movement and experimentation create clarity
- The difference between making decisions from the head and listening to the body
- Why changing “but” into “and” can open new possibilities
- How our core values can become a compass for difficult decisions
- Why our values may change as we move through different seasons of life
- How to practice trusting intuition through small everyday choices
- Why big visions need to inspire — and sometimes even scare us
- The power of consistency and taking one small step every day
- Why celebrating progress, gratitude and appreciation matter along the way
This isn't a conversation about having all the answers.
It's an invitation to stop waiting for perfect certainty, turn the engine on, and start moving.
Because sometimes the next step doesn't require clarity.
Sometimes the next step creates it.

A practical compass for getting unstuck (based on the conversation in this episode):
If you find yourself caught between two directions, you don't need to have everything figured out before you move. Here are a few invitations from our conversation:
- Start moving. Don't wait for perfect clarity. Take one small step and see what it teaches you. Clarity comes from movement, not the other way around.
- Check your values. Ask yourself which choice is more aligned with what truly matters to you — right now.
- Question what you think you want. Ask: Is that really true? Sometimes we pursue something because we believe we should want it, not because it is genuinely ours.
- Listen to your body. Notice what happens when you imagine each choice. Is there contraction or openness? Resistance or energy? Your body can be an important part of your inner compass.
- Consider the season of life you're in. Your priorities and even the order of your values can change. Make today's decisions based on who you are today, not who you were ten years ago.
- Celebrate the small steps. Don't wait for the final destination to acknowledge your progress. Notice what you've already done, appreciate it, and let that momentum carry you forward.
You don't always need clarity to take the next step.
Sometimes taking the next step is what creates clarity.
